Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to lead day‑to‑day client engagement on a large, multi‑phase data center program for a high‑profile technology client in Montgomery County, TN.
This is a high‑visibility, client‑facing role requiring strong leadership across all aspects of cost management on a complex, phased construction program.
Responsibilities:
- Lead estimating, cost planning, and change management across multiple construction phases, including the negotiation of change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce, present, and maintain detailed cost plans, forecasts, and funding data at key design and construction milestones.
- Work collaboratively with designers, contractors, and project managers to develop, reconcile, and validate construction cost estimates.
- Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, challenge assumptions, and lead commercial negotiations to achieve fair and accurate contract values.
- Manage post‑contract cost control, including valuations, cost checks, contingency management, and commitment tracking.
- Prepare and issue monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and variance analyses for client review.
- Coordinate all sources of cost information, including trade pricing, quantities from design consultants, and direct supplier inputs.
- Support value engineering and optioneering exercises, providing clear commercial input to inform design decisions.
- Ensure effective cost auditing, valuation processes, and timely agreement of final accounts
- Compile built cost data for benchmarking and continuous improvement.
- Proactively resolve commercial and scheduling issues with minimal supervision.
- Identify, coach, and mentor team members, fostering high performance and professional development.
- Ensure project delivery aligns with Turner & Townsend’s business management systems, delivery methodologies, and best‑practice standards.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
